Christmas Countdown: Time for Family
Hello and welcome to Abode’s fourth and final Christmas Countdown article. As it’s our last post before the big day, we wanted to share a few ways you can make the most of your time off with family (and earn some festive style points in the process!)
Christmas is a time when families come together, so welcome yours with open arms and a friendly gesture right at the front door. The ‘Merry’ Mat pictured in the link below is the perfect decorative piece to any port or front door, you could even add a small potted Christmas tree or hang a wreath on the door.

For some added style this winter, layer up your mats to add patterns and contrast. This trend has been around for a little while in the US, but there’s no reason it can’t work just as well here! We would suggest that you choose durable mats if your front door is under the elements. Your guests will feel welcome from the off!

Create New Traditions

At Christmas time there is a tendency for things to become very hectic, very quickly. Even the most organised shoppers and planners can find themselves up against it! However, Christmas doesn’t have to be this way, take a few moments to think about how you would like to feel this year. Take a well-earned break and make some new traditions with your family, whether it’s Christmas Movie Night or perhaps spending an evening watching old family videos together. We’re sure you’ll all enjoy it.
Make a Christmas Eve Box

Christmas Eve Boxes are a trend that although aren’t new, are definitely gaining in popularity. They can be as simple or extravagant as you wish, although at First 4 Blinds we think that sentimental, cosy Christmas boxes are the best kind. For those new to the idea, to create your own Christmas Eve box, add a selection of items saved especially for use on Christmas Eve such as some comfy pyjamas and a special mug for hot chocolate.
A Gift for the Tree

Our last feature is a gift that is for your Christmas tree, a tree skirt. It doesn’t matter if you have a real or an artificial tree (that debate is for another post! #pineneedlesgate) a tree skirt can be a tradition that stays with your family every year. They have been described as the Christmas accessory of the year in some circles, and come in all shapes and sizes. Whether you choose to buy or make a tree skirt is up to you. We have included a basic tutorial at the end of our article in case you feel like making one with some personal touches.
Well, that’s the end of our 2018 Christmas Countdown. We hope you have enjoyed our articles. If you would like information on our shop’s Christmas opening times, please feel free to get in touch today at https://www.first4blinds.com/contact-us/
See you Soon and Merry Christmas!
